
See this contraption? It’s called a lat bar with stirrup handles. It attaches to a cable machine. You grip both sides and pull it down to your chest.
If you train with E you do this with 85 pounds. Plus you do 4 sets.
There was a bonus tonight! He set it at 100 pounds first, I couldn’t move it, so he moved it down to 85. He said in a few weeks I’ll lift a 100.
One my last set I pulled down and was shocked how freaking heavy it felt, but I pushed through a couple reps. Then I saw what he’d done. While I was busy trying not to puke, he moved it to 100 pounds.
When I noticed he started dancing back and forth saying “I knew it! I knew it! You got it! You are so strong! I told you!”
I only got 3 reps in, but holy fuck, I did a 100 pound lat pull down!
That wasn’t even where the workout ended! I had more sets of other things. We finally quit when my arms quit. No kidding, I was doubled over, green in the face, shaking my arms because they were spent.
There was a slight moment of asking myself why … then I just got in the car, put a shit eating grin on my face, and said “oh yes my dear, you are strong!”
